  • This silkmoth (Bombyx mori) sits on a mulberry leaf covered with eggs

  • A highly territorial male reticulated glass frog (Hyalinobatrachium valerioi) assumes the classic guard posture, facing the eggs with one hand on the clutch, to protect them from wasps and other predators. The white dot pattern on his skin is thought to mimic the egg mass, with the intent of drawing attention away from the vulnerable clutch and towards the male who is defending them.
