  • The green iguana (Iguana iguana) has parietal eye, or “third eye”, that allows it to detect incoming attacks by flying predators such as hawks and eagles. This parietal eye is located above the centre of its head and appears as a semi-translucent scale in the adult stage. The “third eye” is not able to make sharp or defined images but it is able to collect the shadows of flying predators as they get within close distance.
